swift kit
Hi all not sure if this is where this should go but here it is.
the following is straight from the swift kit site:
SwiftKit is a Toolkit designed for RuneScape and MechScape players by conveniently bringing together all common RuneScape and MechScape tools and features from all over into one single application.
The easiest way to describe SwiftKit is to imagine a special browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox). However, this special browser isn't designed for browsing websites. It's designed for playing RuneScape or MechScape in and, as a result, is full of RuneScape and MechScape specific utilities, bookmarks to popular guides/websites, and anything else required to give you the edge whilst still remaining within the games rules.
SwiftKit will be able to assist you in whatever task you may be working on in game, whether your task is doing a quest, following a clue scroll, or just levelling up your favourite skill. SwiftKit will even be able to assist you to plan your next task with its multiple planning utilities such as the Quest Planner, Calculators and Highscore tools.
SwiftKit RS Features
Skill Calculators
Player Stats lookup
Highscore Tools
Progress Calculator
Fully Integrated IRC Client
Screenshot Taker, Viewer and Uploader
Quest Center
Events Hub
Atlas
Treasure Locator
Server Status
Armory
Notepads
Mp3 Player
Online Radio
Item, Price, Clan and Monster Databases
World Clock
Timers and Counters
To Do List
Direct Links to many RuneScape guides
Monster Drop Logger
Username Availability Checker
SwiftBrowse as lightweight WebBrowser
and many more...

Re: swift kit
I used to use it in "the old days" when it was called SwiftSwitch (ok technically SK is not a descendant but a derivative) and it was the "best" way to switch worlds. Best as in easiest, it wasn't any faster than opening a second window (you had to use IE to have sound, and IE didn't have tabs yet, so it had to be a window) and loading the new world in there before logging out. That would probably still be slightly faster these days, but the HD client is strange and only allows one instance - I don't know how they managed to do that, it's based on OpenGL right? Normally OpenGL allows multiple instances (in fact I don't know any way to make it go wrong - but I'm not an OpenGL expert), so maybe it's the glue-code in the Java part..
Anyway, I don't use it these days.. there is the Tip.It mini helper - and usually I don't even need it.
Let's just say I have "no compelling reason" to use SK.

Re: swift kit
I used swift switch before the G.E. just to get onto the full market worlds easier. Don't really see the point in it now.
I just don't need the functions, and play in full screen anyway.

Re: swift kit
My personal experience with swiftkit are bad. I found it to clutter the screen a little too much, and I can navigate tip.it or zybez help sites and databases alot faster than through SK. That's how I feel about it, but if it works for you, great.
Currently playing: Civilization V, Hearthstone, Dwarf Fortress II, Golf (IRL).

Re: swift kit
I've always used the Swiftswitch version and still very happily use Swiftkit. Great to fast look up an item, a monster or highscores while I can keep playing Runescape.

Re: swift kit
swift switch and swift kit have always (and will always) be the best way to play RS, it is VERY safe, and your not forced to open like 5 web pages (which makes you lag, and sometimes die)
Sk is FTW :]

Re: swift kit
hey tini,
I did some checking on the jagex site and swiftkit is not a bannable program to use. The banable ones are those that move the mouse or other parts of the screen for you, and those that use jagex programing to move for you.
Swiftkit does not fall into that catoagory.
Just thought you would like to know.

this is actually inaccurate... A.Gower himself supported the original making of the 'swift' software to my understandingtiniponi wrote:Just a note to remind that Jagex advises not using SwiftKit. It's up to each to make his/her decision ... i won't use it.

I'm not so sure this is true, it is as you say no longer bannable program, however they advise against using any 3rd party software to play the game, in effect, this would mean they advise against using firefox etc i guess, and to only use their applet.
Also swiftswitch was against the rules and a bannable offense for a long period, so I would be surprised if either Gower supported "swift" software, would seem strange as swiftswitch broke the rules, maybe they supported (or pushed) swift to make changes to remove the unfair advantages and the bypassing of navigation so it no longer broke the rules.
