Slayer Belt – RuneLabs Update

Be prepared for every encounter with the slayer belt – one of the first ideas chosen from RuneLabs.

Proposed by Dragonsseed, the slayer belt expands the tool belt you know and love with new slots. These hold specialist slayer equipment – such as a rock hammer, fungicide or the Ouroboros pouch – so you'll always have the right tool to strike a killing blow.

Previously consumable or charge-limited items added to the belt will become unlimited, too – never worry about running out again!

You can also spend slayer points to add the bonecrusher, charming imp, seedicide and herbicide to the belt, saving you time and keeping your inventory clear.

What's on the Belt?

These items can now be added straight to the tool belt:

Rock hammer
Slayer bell
Crystal chime (either version)
Ouroboros pouch (unlimited once added)
Note that slayer items that need to be wielded or equipped cannot be added to the tool belt.

There are several new items to obtain, which act as replacements for your consumable slayer items. You can add these to the tool belt and use them indefinitely, with no need to recharge or refill:

Salt bag: buy a salt shaker from any slayer master.
Icy water: buy an ice shaker from any slayer master.
Fungicide: buy a fungicide shaker from any slayer master.
Fishing explosive: buy an explosive shaker from any slayer master.
Super fishing explosive: buy a super explosive flask from any slayer master, then fill it with 100 rubium ore.
Monsters that must be killed with slayer items now all have on-click options to do so. These work whether the necessary item is on your tool belt or in your inventory.

For 500 slayer points each, you can unlock the ability to add the following to the slayer belt:

Bonecrusher
Charming imp
Seedicide
Herbicide

Adamant and Rune Dragons

Adamant and rune dragons are here! Courtesy of Dragonforcae and voted for by you, they're fresh from RuneLabs and ready for battle.

Delve beneath Brimhaven and jaunt through the World Gate to Kethsi to face these new monsters in high-level combat.

Earn new rewards such as upgrades to make level 90 power boots, a dragon slaying ring and rare, prestigious cosmetics. Learn forgotten lore, too, as you uncover the lost secrets of the Dragonkin.

This week we've also got two new bank boosters in Solomon's Store – available free to members – details of the week's streams and news on the winners of our recent community competitions.

Read on!

How to Start

Adamant dragons can be found in Brimhaven Dungeon. They're formidable foes, so you'll need high combat levels and anti-dragon breath equipment to survive. You'll find more dragons behind magical barriers – passable at 70, 80 and 90 Slayer. Adamant dragons are available as a slayer assignment from Kuradal or Morvran.

Rune dragons are farther away – on Mount Firewake on the world of Kethsi. This new area is only accessible through the World Gate south of Eagle's Peak, once you've completed Fate of the Gods and Ritual of the Mahjarrat. The only slayer master who will assign them is Morvran.

To stand a chance against these mightiest of monsters, you'll – of course - need anti-dragon gear. It's also wise to come packing dragonbane ammo, as anything else will deal greatly reduced damage until the rune dragons' armour plating is breached.

Rune dragons also have a flight phase – all the more reason to come geared for range – and an enrage phase where their maximum damage increases with each attack.

Regular rune dragons are challenging enough, but elite rune dragons can also spawn on their death. These have all the deadly abilities of their kin, with a significant boost in power – and more lucrative loot.

For two weeks following today's release, there are increased spawn rates on both adamant and rune dragons, and an increased chance for elites to spawn when rune dragons are killed. There's also twice the chance to get an adamant or rune dragon slayer assignment.

Rewards

Speaking of loot, there are bags of it to be had for intrepid dragon slayers. Their drop tables are brimming with valuables, including some all-new rewards unavailable anywhere else.

Rune dragons can drop items to upgrade steadfast, glaiven or ragefire boots, making level 90 power boots in all three styles. You'll need two of the appropriate item to make an upgrade. The boots degrade, eventually reverting to their level-85 base items. Note that rune dragons only drop the upgrade components while on a Slayer task from Morvran. Elite rune dragons always have a chance to drop them.

The Kethsi ring is a possible drop from elite rune dragons, and imparts a 4% damage boost against metallic dragons when worn – 8% against those in Kuradal's dungeon. It also gives teleports to adamant or rune dragons – which can be shared by a social slayer partner, if they're also able to reach the dragons. The ring has five teleport charges, and is destroyed when those are used up.

Elite dragons will – rarely – drop a Kethsi scroll, which unlocks part of the cosmetic Kethsi outfit – styled after the long-dead mages of that world.

There are murals in Brimhaven and on Kethsi which can be cleansed with a fully charged dragonfire shield at 60 and 80 Firemaking. This grants a lump of Firemaking XP, and adds words to your Dragonkin primer.

Adamant and rune dragons also drop pages of the journal of a Dactyl Dragonkin who continued Kerapac's experiments on metal dragons.

Artisans' Workshop Update

The Ninjas have infiltrated the Artisans' Workshop, making a big batch of updates to the venerable Smithing activity. They've made it a whole lot more user-friendly, and introduced some cool new rewards – including auto-reloading for your dwarf cannon!

The team are planning to do more focused updates like this, bringing older parts of the game up to today's standards. If you've got an idea for a particular part of RuneScape that you'd like to see given the Ninja treatment, let us know on the Ninja Spotlight forum thread.

Read on to find out what the Ninjas have been up to – along with details of Solomon's new Vitality Accessory Pack and this week's live streams.

What's Changed?

Smithing burial armour has a new side interface, making the activity more responsive and user-friendly:
By default, the first ingot type in your inventory will be selected.
The interface will respond as you swap ingots in and out of your inventory.
Selecting new armour pieces can be done while smithing, and will be applied on the next loop.
Selecting new ore will immediately stop and restart the smithing process with the new ore.
Anvils in the burial armour area now have ‘quick start' as the default left-click operation.
The quick-smithing effects of the Varrock armour now apply to track-making and burial armour.
When creating a perfect sword, you can request an off-hand equivalent.
The required amount for the mithril swords daily challenge has been reduced.
Daily challenges for adamant and rune swords have been added.
When using a heated ingot on the water pool, you'll be given the opportunity to change your entire inventory at once, rather than one at a time.
Ceremonial sword-making has been made smoother:
Tongs can now be stored on the tool belt.
A single left-click on the anvil now places the ingot and the plans, and opens the interface.
Ingots can be used directly, without heating them first.
The artisan burial overlay has been relocated to the left of the screen, remains opened everywhere in the workshop, and displays your current respect.
The attack rate of ceremonial swords has been rebalanced.
When withdrawing or depositing ingots, only metals currently held will be offered. Note that this doesn't filter by ingot type.
Dent size chances have been tweaked to be fairer, in terms of leading to perfect successes.
Dent messaging is now filtered.
A warning message now displays when handing in ceremonial swords that would award 0 XP.
Audio has been reworked.

New Rewards

Restocking cannon (100% respect, requires royale cannon unlock): Grants your cannon the ability to reload automatically. You must have cannonballs in your inventory and be within 15 squares for this to work.
Ceremonial sword orders (50% respect): Increases the orders received by the workshop, occasionally allowing you to choose which ceremonial sword you wish to make.
Sword polishing kit (10% respect): Gives 10 sword polishing kits, which - when held in your inventory - prevent a ceremonial sword from breaking.
Bonus package (100% respect): Gives 8 mithril ingot IV, 4 adamant ingot IV, 2 rune ingot IV, 50,000 Bonus Smithing XP and 10 sword polishing kits. Note that the ingots in this bundle cannot be exchanged for ore, and do not count towards daily challenges.

Overhead chat no longer appears in the chat log when insul- erm...'encouraging' Pauline Polaris at Livid Farm.

Liquid colours are now consistent amongst the dosages of supreme ranging potion.

This update is kind of funny but useful (it's happened to me more than once!):

Players can now deposit items still held by a beast of burden via the bank "Deposit all BoB" button when the familiar has disappeared unexpectedly.

Next update will have:

Players can now inflict revenge on a monster via the "Instakill" button when killed unexpectedly. :p

Summer Beach Party

The Summer Beach Party is in full swing, making Lumbridge Crater the place to be until the end of August!

Build sandcastles: Follow the clues given to you by the nearby visitors and build the right castles for Construction XP.
Fish at the rock pools: Cast a line, kick back and get some Fishing XP while you're at it. Drop off the fish at the barbecues for extra XP.

Try the coconut shy: Test your skill at the coconut shy and earn Ranged XP.
More activities are coming over the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the news!

Every 15 minutes one of the XP-giving activities will be spotlighted, and it will yield +10% XP. Note that Ironman players earn 50% less XP for participating in beach activities.

You can keep earning XP until your temperature gauge fills up completely, although this can be reset up to three times a day by consuming ice creams.

Rewards

First up, there are a number of handy items that you can earn by fighting Clawdia and participating in other beach activities:

Ice cream: This tradeable item resets a full temperature gauge to 0. You can use up to three per day.
Anti-sun potion: Also tradeable, this item gives a +5% boost to any XP earned on the beach – that includes beach activities and any other training done there. The effect lasts for 24 hours (real time, not time spent logged in).
Cocktails: These come in four fruity flavours, each boosting XP gain in a different group of skills – combat, artisan, gathering and support. By drinking more of the same type, you can stack the XP boost up to 10%. The effect lasts for 30 minutes of logged-in time.
You can get these items from fighting Clawdia, from participating in the various beach activities, and by handing in a beach party ticket from the recent Summer Raffle.

There's also a rare chance to get a tradeable token that can be redeemed for one of several new beach items. These include cosmetic weapons and headgear, emotes and more:

Bunting whip
Stick of rock
Throwing starfish
Snorkel
Bucket head
Clawdia hat
Dragon ring
Buried in Sand resting animation
Surfboard emote
Beach ball
Throwing disc
There'll be new additions to the available items over the coming weeks – we'll let you know in the news.

Note that the tokens will automatically become untradeable at the end of this year.

These items can also be purchased from the vendors around the beach for RuneCoins, as can challenge gems, dwarven challenge barrels, party packs and masterwork music boxes.

Finally, there's a bunch of secret rewards available for fulfilling certain conditions on the beach. Have fun discovering them!

The advanced pulse core buff icon has been updated to display the new model.

The Skeletal Horror no longer has green polygons visible from underneath its model.

An issue where some players were unable to spot the PBJ polar bear agent if they logged into a free world to perform their weekly reset has been fixed.

Players who are unable to take part in Tears of Guthix as they are within 100k of maximum XP and have maximum quest points can now tick off the requirement for the Distracted title after telling Juna a story.

An issue that allowed players to open the Treasure Hunter interface during a duel has been fixed.

Dominion crossbows and staffs are no longer referred to as swords when trying to equip them outside of Dominion Tower.

The Observatory professor will now reliably recognise players who have a coordinate clue scroll.

Several spelling errors - previously displayed when players reached their Evil Tree kindling cap - have been fixed.

Talking to a clan herald in Prifddinas will allow players to unlock the Dark Lord title if they have already met the requirements.

Grammar issues previously displayed in the chat message when trying to create a Tuska mask without enough pieces to complete it have been fixed.

Members-only familiars can no longer be dismissed in a free-to-play world.

Dragon trinkets' red dragon teleport destination has been moved slightly to better avoid blocked tiles.

Essence of wisdom will now convert to advanced pulse cores at a rate of 2:1.

Logging out on the broken Meiyerditch wall will no longer place players out of bounds.

Vitality weapons now appear correctly in the Wardrobe weapon sub-filters.

Followers no longer float on water after arriving at Taverley from Ashdale.

Ninja Fixes:

The Dungeoneering XP penalty for players with high combat levels on free-to-play worlds has been removed. Prestige modifiers above 35 will continue to act as if they were 35 on free worlds.

Signs of porter will now work with a full inventory, as suggested on RuneLabs.

Tuska Falls | Quick Lodestone Teleports

Tuska has been laid low by the mighty Godless, and she's made a heck of a dent.

Courtesy of RuneLabs and F D C's original idea, you can now use your vis wax to charge up quick lodestone teleports.

Last – but not least – the Ninjas have given you two new Grand Exchange slots – one for everyone, and one for members.

Read on for further details!

Tuska Falls

After a month-long battle, Tuska's reign of galactic terror has been brought to an end by Gielinor's Godless. She's careened through the planet's atmosphere, and crashed to a lifeless halt.

You can still access the Tuska D&D by clicking the magical barrier near to Wizard Chambers, and purchase the Tuska World Event rewards – albeit at an increased points cost – from Chambers himself.

Note that the previous World Event armour sets are no longer available from the Tuska rewards shop.

If you'd like to rewatch the cutscene that plays on first log-in after today's update, you can do so by talking to Kara-Meir.

But this is much more than a monument to Gielinor's victory over the beast goddess. From next week, the portal on Tuska's back will open, giving you access to a strange new world.

Get ready to venture to Mazcab – home to the goebies, and to RuneScape's all-new Raids!

Quick Lodestone Teleports | RuneLabs

An awesome RuneLabs idea from F D C comes to fruition today, as we bring you quick lodestone teleports.

Using charges, your lodestone teleports can be made as quick as a location-specific Magic-skill teleport.

Convert your vis wax to charges through its conversion interface, at a rate of 1 wax for 10 charges.

Then, you can tick the 'Quick Charges' check box on the lodestone map to automatically use up charges, or manually select when to use them by right-clicking a destination and clicking 'Quick Teleport'.

To use quick lodestone teleports, you'll need to be a member, have unlocked the lodestone in question, and meet Magic level requirements for each:

Burthorpe - 5 Magic
Ashdale - 5 Magic
Taverley -10 Magic
Lumbridge - 10 Magic
Al Kharid - 15 Magic
Varrock - 15 Magic
Draynor Village - 20 Magic
Port Sarim - 25 Magic
Catherby - 30 Magic
Falador - 35 Magic
Edgeville - 40 Magic
Eagle's Peak - 45 Magic
Canifis - 50 Magic
Karamja - 50 Magic
Seer's Village - 55 Magic
Ardougne - 60 Magic
Yanille - 65 Magic
Oo'glog - 65 Magic
Rellekka - 70 Magic
Lunar - 75 Magic
Tirannwn - 75 Magic
Bandit Camp - 80 Magic
Wilderness - 85 Magic
Prifddinas - 90 Magic
Don't forget to check out RuneLabs, if you haven't recently, and submit your ideas for story questions to be answered in a medium-sized quest.

Have Fun!

Enjoy some expeditious adventures this week, and get ready to explore Mazcab from next Monday's update!
