How to set up an event

It's great to see members wanting to host their own event and it is easy to do. Just follow the information below.

How to create and move Event threads:
Create a thread by going to Board Index > Select 'Upcoming Events' under Events section.

It is helpful that the subject heading includes world, date, time and timezone.

In the post message always start with a Runetrack countdown converter - http://runetrack.com/timezone_converter/
Set the details to your own timezone as it will automatically convert for every member's individual timezone according to their forums settings. Simply copy paste the 'Forums' link onto the top of your thread.

Give details of your event remembering to provide information for members who may not have been before. It is especially important when hosting dangerous events that you provide very clear details of what people should wear, take, and what they need to do. As the host you will be expected to ensure everyone is fully prepared and stays as safe as possible. This includes a plan for assisting anyone to get items back in the event of any deaths. Links to guides are helpful but it is also important to detail as much information as possible as a short reference, as guides are often difficult to wade through.

Once the event is over, it is helpful to post a register of members who attended. This is so that the Admin team has a record of who is attending events consistently. It may therefore be best to keep a list during the event to ensure no-one is missed.

View for examples of event threads:
viewtopic.php?f=103&t=12197 (skilling)
viewtopic.php?f=103&t=12193 (combat)

After the event has passed you need to move the thread from 'Upcoming Events' into the 'Events Archive' section.

Scroll down to the bottom of the thread page to 'Quick-mod tools' on the left hand side. > In the drop down box select 'Move topic'.
Select the destination 'Event Archive'. > Do not leave a shadow topic in place (so uncheck box), and click yes to make the thread move.
