Kev's Fight Kiln Guide (OUTDATED, SEE NEW GUIDE)

Post by Kevinsaurus » Mon Aug 20, 2012 10:34 pm

With the EoC, this guide is now outdated. See my new Fight Kiln Guide in the RS Guides section on forums or by going to the following link: http://www.koaclan.co.uk/forums/viewtopi ... 67&t=10065

Hey guys,

So recently I started getting into Fight Kiln. Took me 2 tries, but I got my TokHaar-Kal. I just did a Fight Kiln run this morning (4th overall, 2nd "speed kiln" attempt). It wasn't that fast, but it was pretty good by my standards. I did the whole thing with live commentary and vidded it as well. Hopefully this will help any of you who are trying to get the kiln cape. Because of not having extensive youtube video uploads, I'm limited to my video length, so I had to split up my kiln into 8 parts/videos. Feel free to post or ask if you have any questions, comments, or feedback.

Waves covered in each part
Part 1: Introduction, Gear, Inventory, Waves 1-3
Part 2: Waves 4-10
Part 3: Waves 11-15
Part 4: Waves 16-20
Part 5: Waves 21-26
Part 6: Waves 27-30
Part 7: Waves 31-35
Part 8: Waves 36-37 (Har'Aken), Conclusion

Gear
Aura: Vampyrism --- Reverence if you don't have Vampyrism, or another combat aura if neither
Helmet: Helm of Neitiznot (e) (90 Iron Within Scrolls) --- Slayer Helmet (e) can be used too
Neck: Amulet of Glory --- Amulet of Fury is better if you have it
Weapon: Chaotic Rapier
Body: Torag's Platebody --- Torva Platebody if you have it
Offhand: Illuminated Unholy Book --- Regular Unholy book works too, but I recommend something with a high prayer bonus
Legs: Verac's Plateskirt --- Torva Platelegs if you have it
Gloves: Culinaromancer's gloves 10
Boots: Dragon Boots --- Steadfast Boots if you have it
Ring: TokKul-Zo --- Bring an Onyx Ring (i) switch if you want
Ammo: Runite Bolts (at least 500)

Inventory
Dreadnips (at least 50) --- Highly recommended, dragon/rune pickaxe if you don't, and you'll have to use other tactics for the dill waves than suggested in my videos
Ganodermic Poncho --- Virtus Robe Top if you have it
Ganodermic Leggings --- Virtus Robe Legs if you have it
Armadyl Battlestaff --- Polypore Staff if you can't afford the Armadyl Battlestaff, but the Armadyl Battlestaff is highly recommended
Arcane Stream Necklace --- Very helpful, although if you don't have it, don't bring a 2nd neck slot item
Enhanced Excalibur --- Regular excalibur if you don't have the enhanced version
Royal D'hide Body --- Pernix Body if you have it
Royal D'hide Chaps --- Pernix Chaps if you have it
Chaotic Crossbow
Iron Titan Pouch --- Steel Titan pouch if you have 99 summoning --- 1-2 spare pack yak or war tortoise pouches if using a BoB instead of a titan
2 Prayer Flasks (6) --- Only 1 really necessary, but 2 if you want to be safe
8 Saradomin Brew Flasks (6) --- Can replace up to 5 with Summoning Flasks (6) if you want
2 Super Restore Flasks (6) --- Make the super restore : saradomin brew ratio 1:3 if not using overloads
2 Prayer Renewal Flasks (6)
2 Overload Flasks (6) --- Don't bring pots if you don't have overloads; Vecna Skull + 1 Ranged Potion an optional alternative
Iron Within Scrolls (at least 200) --- Steel of legends scroll if you using steel titan; no scrolls if using a BoB
Armadyl Runes (at least 500) --- Not necessary if using Polypore Staff

Here is a shorthand written version of notes I use to help me throughout the waves:

Very nice!
I need to remember to try kiln sometime I'm not lagging too much :P
That method of praying against Jad so you only have to look out for one combat style could be helpful

Just updated the guide with more gear / inventory alternatives for aura, neckslot, offhand, dreadnips, neckslot switch, enhanced excalibur, familiar/scrolls, overloads/pots, and added slightly more information near the end of the text portion with regards to importance of crystals and their priorities.

No problem Hid :), glad you finally got your kiln cape! (I assume you took the cape and not the onyx... lol). I suppose you got over that lag hurdle ;)

If I ever get around to getting the supplies for this again, now that I'm 99 summoning, I'd kind of like to do this again and re-vid it with better quality hopefully and with a steel titan for a speed kiln. The gear still won't be great as I'm not rich, but I'm hoping I might get a faster time possibly and have a better method or something.

Looking forward to trying this before EOC comes out. Guess I should go get a chaotic crossbow though, I don't have one yet... unless you think it's doable with a rune c'bow?

Definitely doable with a rune crossbow. Either is fine, just the chaotic is nicer to have because of the extra attack bonus obviously. Potted up (with overloads or extremes or ranging potions) and using a ranging prayer, a rune crossbow will do just fine.

I think with EoC coming out I'm going to have to remake this guide lol... when I get the chance I'll definitely try and do it.
