Video capture on RS.

Post by Deep_Pain » Sat Oct 25, 2008 8:45 pm

I'll fill this guide out later.. this is just a quicky:

Free recording software:

Taksi - Based on fraps, some think its better that fraps, it is free.
http://taksi.sourceforge.net/

camstudio - this is my favourite more technically capable than others, but may be a little complicated for some just to record a game... Although I find camstudio simpler to use.

http://camstudio.org/ scroll past all the junk at the top, the download is free. I would advise getting the lossless codec on the same page also.

Paid recording software.

fraps - best for games.

camtasia - good for general use & personally I think RS

Make sure you download a good codec for compression or the videos will be just to big. some of the programs come with one, some don't, but you will be pretty safe using a divx codec.

free and pro versions.

good guide on camstudio:

good guide on virtualdub editing software.

May I suggest x264 as alternative encoder?
It's pretty good (VLC plays H.264 so don't worry about compatibility)
