This guide is a quicky and only relative until the price drops, but I don't see it dropping for some time. Thank-you to Rilo Carlile for bringing it up and telling me in the CC. This is an easy way to make 417k/ 834k a day/2 days (depending on the price in the GE.)
Mature Greenman's Ale
At the moment the medium price for a pint of this stuff is 49.9k. I have started making it and it always sell's for max. It only takes 10 mins a day and I have started making my home brew as a daily. Here is what to do for a complete run:
Firstly you need 'pieces of Eight'. These can be collected from playing the Trouble Brewing mini game in world 104. I have played it a few times and collected a few hundred. The game guide can be found here http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/trouble_brewing or http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Trouble_Brewing. You gain xp in a few skills for playing the game, Rilo also suggested we make it into a clan game one day, all on the same team.
When you have multiples of 5 poe, buy 'The Stuff' from Honest Jimmys House of Stuff.(1 per brew)
Take empty pots to Blandebir, found in the Laughing Miner Inn in the dwarven city of Keldagrim and buy ale yeast from him for 25 gold each. (You can buy it from Metarialus, who is found in the The Green Ghost inn of Port Phasmatys (who charges 5 ecto-tokens)).(1 per brew)
Empty beer glasses, either make them with glassmaking or buy booze from the pub in Falador for 3 gold each and drink it! (Could be usefull if we do that pubcrawl first to collect glasses....any excuse for a drink!) (8 per brew)
Buckets of water (2 per brew)
Barley Malt, made by roasting barley in an oven, barley can be grown (takes 40 mins to grow) in the hops patches in Yannile, North of Lumbridge farm (right hand side of the river), North of McGrubor's Wood and Entrada. Here is a link to tell you the quickest way to get to each http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Farming ... op_patches. (2 per brew)
Harralander herbs (4 per brew).
Using the ectophial, tele to the ghostly port and walk to the pub open the wooden hatch and add
2 buckets of water to the fermenting vat.
2 lots of barley malt
1 bag of The stuff to fermenting vat. This will provide a 50% increase in the chance of your ale going mature.
4 Harralander herbs
1 pot of Ale Yeast is added to Fermenting Vat as the last ingredient, beginning the brewing process.
Tele back to varrock, restock and use the underground cart system to go to keldagrim and walk to the pub, go upstairs and repeat!
Once it is done brewing (examine will say "This vat is filled with mature greenmans ale."), turn the valve between the vat and the attached barrel to move brewed ale to the barrel, but make sure the barrel is empty first. The result of filling an already full barrel are not productive.
Use 8 beer glasses on the barrel.
I have found it takes 1 day for both vats and I'm 88 cooking. I have always gotten 1 mature and 1 normal (normal greenman's ale sells for 860 todays prices). I sell both in the GE, normal on mid price and mature on Max price and they sell straight away! Funnily enough the calquat full of booze is stupidly cheap, so use beer glasses.
We could go out on a big booze up and play trouble brewing to gain stuff for this!

It would be good to play Trouble Brewing again with KoA. If memory serves, Kayezz hosted the event a while ago. We had 2 KoA teams playing each other. It took a while to find a time when all (at least 6 of us) could play.

Thank you Andy for a nice concise guide The online brewing guides were too long and boring.
I enjoyed playing trouble brewing with koa (and that was the only time I played this). It was confusing in the beginning but was real fun

Hey cool! Yeah the reason people pay so much for this greenman's ale is because it gives a visible +2 boost to your Herblore temporarily, which means people could make extremes or overloads or whatever sooner at much lower cost than it would be to get the levels!
Thanks for the guide, I hadn't looked up exactly how to go about making the ale, just knew it was probably worthwhile now.

Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
I did forget to say, if you check the brew after 1 day and it is still fermenting, it will say if it is mature or not. This then gives you the option to 'bin' the normal ale into the barrel and start again for mature.

Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
Just a quick bump to say, as of today 07/08/2010, a pint still goes for 48k. I am getting on average 8 pints every 2 days, I have only had 3 normal greenmans ales and only 1 bad beer so far.

I am having a 25% mature ale success rate. 1 mature batch every 2 days. I haven't used "the stuff" either
Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
thanks for this Andy! I think I'm going to give it a go! Nice guide.

Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
I added "the stuff" to brew (hopefully) mature Greenman's ale in Keldagrim. It's been "fermenting" for 1 week so far. Rubbish!
Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
I will catch you online Brad, there is def something wrong there! It should only take 2/3 days max!

Keldagrim first batch fermented under a day, second batch is on its 4 th day. Port Phos took around 3 and half days. Got 2 batches of regular ale and 1 batch of mature. It is really good money and is hardly taking any time, if I do it during my farm run.

I appreciate your concern, Andy, but I'm not sure there's much you can do to helpPilgrim Matt wrote:I will catch you online Brad, there is def something wrong there! It should only take 2/3 days max!
Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
I can make sure you put all the ingredients in! One person, who shall remain nameless, said they had done it and was ready to go to the other vat. They stood there all happy and motionless until I reminded them they had to put water, then malt, then the stuff, then the herbs and finally the yeast in!Dr Brad wrote:I appreciate your concern, Andy, but I'm not sure there's much you can do to helpPilgrim Matt wrote:I will catch you online Brad, there is def something wrong there! Thats all I would ask, are you sure you put everything in? Does it say Greenmans ale is fermentating in this vat?

Yes, I added all the items, in the sequence above. Yes, both the Keldagrim and Port Phasmatys barrels say, "Greenman's ale is fermentating" (The Port Phasmatys barrel has been fermenting since Sunday.)
Re: Alcohol Doesn't pay, it does!..................26/7/2010
Do you have blackouts or think you did things ages ago when it was infact only yesterday!
