Some advice on PoP (Player Owned Port)

Some advice on PoP (Player Owned Port).

Still figuring out how to upgrade your port & what to upgrade first?
Please take a look at the following suggestions made by fellow Port-owners.

Crew-members are your best assets, they upgrade as you do more voyages with these crew-members.
Example: An Eastern Musketeer could start out at 350 Combat, costing 250 Chime & 80 Gun powder. After a few voyages, when the Musketeer has reached level 2, it has 420.. At level 5 its 525.
If these crew-members are bought early.. And used a lot... (Even on easy voyages where you don't really need em) They will level quite fast.
Also try to buy one or two Cyclops's/Siren Whaleriders.. With the traits: Rallying Cry. As this trait will improve all xp gained by 10% on that voyage (For all crew-members!) And use them whenever possible.
Please feel free to post any suggestion or question!

Try to save your resources for better crew-members and upgrades later on.
Do not upgrade your ship if it is not needed. In most cases you can easily get a high percentage (85%+) with good crew-members and a decent ship setup.
This is also needed if you want to upgrade your warehouse quickly. In order to get even more resources in next voyages.

Would suggest saving up the 'Effects' you gain from random events and such for later on.
Quite sure the Voyages will only get harder and harder. Thus making the 10% more and more.
Only use one or two at hard voyages when you really need em.

The boost of the eastern overseer is not 50 % btw, it is 50 points for every unique crew member on board. And to clear things up with the position I copied the part from RS Wiki about this:

"The effects appear to be processed by crew placement from left to right, which can be important for abilities that do not stack. For example if you have a First Mate and an Eastern Overseer on a single voyage (both with Solidarity), if the First Mate is to the left of the Eastern Overseer, his lower Solidarity bonus will be applied first and the Eastern Overseer's higher bonus will be ignored."

So, first mate in first position and overseer in second is bad. Other way around, overseer in first and first mate in second is no problem, although you really should not put two of them in one voyage anyway, seeing how their base stats (especially those of the first mate) are pretty low.

One thing I found useful: when I notice I am running out of time to get all voyages done in a day, I switch the region focus in port management to a lower region and therefore get more voyages for that lower region that will take less time to complete. That way I can still gather resources in the lower region and not give up on possible voyages. I also like to use these easier voyages to level up new crew members. Don't forget to switch back to higher region before reset though.

Here's a nifty calc to determine a good boat/crew setup.

Thanks for all this! I haven't tried POP yet and I don't really have a clue what I'm doing but I'm sure all of your handy hints will come in useful when the time comes ;D

If your having a hard time doing all voyages because of work or something else what keeps you away from Runescape..
Try saving up to upgrade for a third ship.
It is possible to finish off most voyages with success, without upgrading your ships to the fullest.
At least.. If you have a bunch of good crew-members!

This evening I have bought my third ship.. Making it possible to send out 3 voyages at the same time. Ideal for at work-days.
And I still have a whole list of upgrades left to do.
Upgrades to do

Rams/Figureheads:
Enchanted Figurehead
Skeletal Figurehead
Armoured Ram

Deck Items 1 & 2:
Oxskin Riggin
Large Crate of Riches

Hulls:
Reinforced Hull
Battle Hull
Hull of Tides
Armoured Hull

Rudders:
Polished Rudder
Gilded Rudded
So don't get discouraged or think its impossible to get at early stages!

Thanks for all the advice. I know that if I didn't read this and listen in on CC convos about POP, I'd be totally at a loss

Not sure if this was well known, but you can only have 3 of each type of effect reward. By not using them, you can build them up and force randoms to give you better rewards. Using this, for example you could get 3 fortune of the sea then be forced to get a combination voyage rerolls, spectacles, or lifeboats for you next one.
i have sigs turned off

Now I know.... seeing I got 3 of most already!

There is an option to trade goods . How do you do that?

Also something I just recently learned, when you high-light an empty slot on your ship, and then click on a desired crew member you wish to fill the slot.

No more clicking and dragging :)

Another thing I've noticed..

Lotus-Tint Spectacles +50% crew XP
Fortune of the Sea +10% rewards (or penalties)

When one (or both) of these are used on a ship.. They will remain active!
I'm guessing this is a glitch.. But I've done over 5 voyages with one ship which has Fortune of the Sea active.. And its still active!
Also.. It does seem to stack with other bonusses.. As for the bonus given from warehouse. As for the bonus given by the trait 'Merchant'
In example: Last night I was doing a voyage for 500 cherrywood.. This morning I came online to see I've got about 724 Cherrywood for that voyage. Thats just a little under 50% added!
