Hmm... I normally don't comment on Indiana Jones'd posts, but it's worth noting that 2 years later, a lot of those security issues have been addressed by modern browsers and Jagex themselves. For example, Chrome and Firefox will warn you when you try access fishy sites or sites that try to install malware. On Jagex's side we have JAG.

Still, common sense is your best protection.
