The future for gravestones?

Post by Dr Brad » Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:29 pm

In this week's FAQs:
"“What's the point of the new gravestone (Ed. from the new quest) if it lasts the same amount of time as the angel of death for the same price?”

Mod John A: It's a new cosmetic option. I wanted to add more variety to the game—if one gravestone is the best mechanically then everyone will feel they have to have that one, but if two are equally good then people can be free to choose the one they like better.

Mod Mark: As John says, right now it's just a cosmetic benefit similar to "“trimmed” armour (the same stats but looks much cooler). That may change, depending on the results of the current Wilderness/ Free trade poll and subsequent work, which could have an impact on the way gravestones function.

Care to speculate on Mod Mark's comment?

I hope they keep the gravestones outside of wilderness. Imo the gravestones update was one of the best.

Agreed Kal. Grave stones was a great update. And if they bring back the old wildy, I might have to start playing more. LOL But if I know Jagex, they will nerf grave stones some way, even outside of the wild in their quest for uniformity. *rolls eyes*

I think Jagex will keep gravestones, but make a 'loot grave' option for gravestones in PK areas.

Edit: Maybe 'Rob Grave' would be better. Then PKer's are graver-robbers.

According to the "Wilderness & Free Trade Q&A" (QFC:254-255-55-62204744)
Gravestones

How will gravestones work now?

If you die in the wilderness there will be no gravestone. At all. If you were killed by a player, they get the drop. If you were killed by monster, the drop appears for everyone immediately.

Some areas of the wilderness are still PK free (like the original mage arena). In those areas AND in the rest of the game, a gravestone will appear and exist just as they do today. The gravestone can still be blessed and maintained by other players. A player returning to their gravestone will be able to reclaim all their lost items.

If a player doesn't return to their gravestone and it crumbles away, all players will be able to pick up the loot.
Guess I'll no longer be blessing random peoples graves anymore.

Or you could be a decent person and bless graves still.

This will destroy boss hunting when not with clan. We will see people dying and their teammates taking their stuff.

I think I'll still use the same standards for blessing that I do now. If they annoy me or are rude then its no bless. Anything else is a bless.
Currently playing: Civilization V, Hearthstone, Dwarf Fortress II, Golf (IRL).

Maybe they should change it, that other players can only get the items, if a blessed grave crumbles. That would reward positive behaviour instead of stimulating negative behaviour.

I added a poll. Would be interesting to know what ppl think about it.

Just imagine, you saw a player dieing at steel drags. What do u do?
(assuming the player hasn´t been harassing or trolling you )
