2007 Runescape Server Coming Soon!

These servers, at any of the above levels, would be the exact version from back in 2007 and would maintain the ‘old school' vibe and rules. The old graphics, hiscores, log-in, are all part of the same archived build and would be retained. We wouldn't ever add any micropayment updates.

Are the games connected in any way?

We are working to get the chat system (friends and private messages) working between the services. Apart from this, though, the games will be totally separate – one will not affect the other. A 2007 service would have a separate economy, started from scratch. This means items could not be traded or transferred across the services.

Just looked it up, clan chats were added August 6th.

Btw, anyone know of a page that has the changes between then and now? I'm sure someone will have had to make a compilation by now. If not, I'll try to make some highlights just to see what we'd be missing then (quick look, back to unidentified herbs)

I just received an email from RS wants me to click on it to vote "yes" for the 2007 server. I didn't start playing until 3/2010, lol. I have no clue how bad RS was before then but I heard there was no GE! OMG - noooooo! Idk if I should vote yes or not. What do y'all think?

Hope for their sake they leave it be. There used to be a lot more idle chat between players before everyone went shut in their own private chat rooms... One of the things, at least IMO, that gave you the feeling those other players are in fact controlled by humans and not just part of the background.

Don't get me wrong, I REALLY want these servers, but to ask people to vote yes when they don't want to really defeats the purpose of this poll. To be honest, I don't want the votes to hit 500k. The $5 extra a month is reasonable, and brings more money to help the current game. This way everybody wins.

Ok, just realized the #1 feature of a 2007 server that is leaps and bounds above anything else that may be considered positive, Tutorial Island, no more needs be said.

It seems that in a totally surprising, unexpected and unseen way the vote count is reaching 500k votes. Only thing that can make it more obvious is to stop the vote at 499,999 on March 1st... Maybe later post that because we're such an awesome community and showed an overwhelming support, the company 'decided' to release Ol'scape as a token of gratitude anyways.
I feel bad for the sincere players' vote. Kinda like putting a blank page in the envelope on elections day.

Also, I don't think I'm going too far saying that because Ol'scape is "now" given free they'll be adding a form of micro-transaction to "fund" it...
