ports crew question~

Post by Amatista » Thu Aug 29, 2013 3:20 am

well i just noticed a lot of my crew members have these bad traits that i just found out about recently :-(

and since i gotta replace at least 8 of them i was wondering what are your crew set ups? i seem to be missing a lot of information like the dice guys and the ox-head dudes so i wanted to get a feel for what was out there and possibly some tips on what would be a generally good set up to be using.

currently i have uh 8 traveling band 8 harem of fortune tellers and 8 ferocious tigers and 1 ox head that i just bought :D, thought i was goin about it the correct way and maybe there is no "correct" way but i was just wonderin what your all working with. thanks :D

It really depends how far into it you are. I've completed it and spend my time doing either missions for plates ect to make money or xp missions so i'm more focused on doing those voyages My set-up is as follows:

6 Morale
6 Combat
7 Seafaring (one extra because in the final regoin you cant get many decent seafaring add-ons to your ship compared to morale and combat)
2 Jade merchant
2 Oxface
2 Judge of dice

In my experience with a completed port (over 100 extra of each armor resource if you need anything), having 3 or even 4 Judge of Dice is very useful. The trade good missions follow a pretty reliable trend for each stage. In the maxed stage of the port where you gather steel,
Chi asks for Morale only
Steel asks for Morale/Combat/Seafaring
Laquer asks for Morale/Combat/Seafaring
Spice asks for Combat/Seafaring
Bones ask for Morale/Seafaring
So if you look at this, it makes sense to have
7 Travelling bands (morale)
2 Tiger Riders (combat)
4 Fortune Tellers (seafaring)
8 Oxhead (ALL)
3 Judge of Dice (All, 1 per voyage)
1 Jade Merchant (Bonus loot)

Especially since it seems (not confirmed) like you don't get multiple of the same type of mission on your voyage page.
Note that this is not my personal setup, but one that seems most effective for a trade good build

EDIT: Added Jade Merchant for use in story mission bonuses or for bonus spice, substitute either a tiger rider or fortune teller and use a powder keg or bottled cry to replace them based on availablility.

1. That would be good choice if you find a lot of trade goods voyages from standard voyages (which are unfortunately quite rear)
2. You should turn your attention to special voyages where most of the trade goods come from

The Assassin's resource voyages: Combat 20000
The Biologist: Morale 11500 and Seafaring 11500
The Convict: Morale 20000
The Missionary: Combat 11500 and Seafaring 11500
The Occultist: Morale 11500 and Combat 11500
The Whaler: Seafaring 20000
The Assassin and the Convict: Combat 22500
The Biologist and the Whaler: Seafaring 22500
The Missionary and the Occultist: Morale 22500

So it wouldn't quite do the job :|

damn. im tryin to get plate missions and the chi things but i dont have the thief to get the last adventurer so its even harder for me to get plate missions havin just the whaler and biologist to work with, i have 4 green dragon things i get more plate missions and such on just normal missions but i never seem to have enough stats i usually have to send it out at 70% or so if im lucky

I have also all 4 Jade Statue (dragons) but the trade goods are still quite rare.

You can get plate from the Whaler and the Biologist and the Whaler Voyage. In standard voyage you'll need 10k in all adversities. For Chi the Occultist and the Missionary and the Occultist voyages and for standard you'll need 20k moral :|

I focus solely on trade goods missions now (decided 90k+ stainless steel was probably enough). I have 4 jade statues and I get 10-12 trade goods missions a week from regular voyages and adventurer missions combined.

My crew:
2 morale captains
1 combat captain
2 seafaring captains

5 morale crew
5 combat crew
5 seafaring crew
4 oxhead
3 judge of dice
3 jade merchant

I can usually do 2 or 3 trade good missions at the same time with this setup at or close to 90%.
