Dungeoneering Update

Post by dev » Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:10 pm

Looks like it will make dungeons much faster, and no need to gate random doors to go get keys from the keyer. It isn't clear if we can keep the tools in the toolbelt for each dung, but hopefully we can. I'll be making myself some good equipment if that is the case.

^ Yeah I really like this proposed key update, in addition to the toolbelt and stackable resources. I, too, wondered if the higher level tools you make will stay in the toolbelt from floor to floor. While I hope it does, I doubt it :(

I think that you'll start off with novite tools at the beginning and if you acquire the higher level tools on a floor, it'll replace the lower level tool on the toolbelt just for that floor. on the next floor, you'll start off with novite again.

I'm pretty sure you're right Starwolf. At least thats how I interpret it.

And while this will really help out the average skilled dg'er, it only slightly helps out the really good dg'er as getting keys should only take a few seconds anyways.

But any improvement is a good improvement, and the toolbelt will be great.

The main thing I see with the key update is that now everyone can move at a fast pace in different directions, instead of waiting for a keyer if they're too slow.

Hmm, keeping the best tools in the toolbelt sounds too good to be true...

I guess we'll find out when it's released, but we can only hope. Having a Prom pick and hatchet all the time would be so ideal.

There's something for everyone - the stacking resources will be great for my solo excursions, and I'm looking for that. C1 rushes will become even faster, and overall, this should reduce the "barrier of entry" that many high level dungeoneers impose on the rest of the folks out there.

Simply having keys available isn't much of a help for beginners because it doesn't fix the most crucial errors beginners make...such as not calling doors, not gating doors, not pathing. It will help a little bit, but only a little. Where I can see it helping the most is in the intermediate dungeoneers that still like to use the 1 person opens doors, 4 people do gd's method. It also will probably benefit the suicide keyers a bit too.

And stackable fish means I won't have to drop fish while C2 fishing! :D

I am still waiting for the update that allows me to hire NPC's to dungeoneer with me. So I can have them complete the dungeon while I AFK :(

A man can dream right? I am such a terrible dungeoneer :P

Yah know I would, but they are either obscenely overpriced or potential scams :(

2M per floor @ 50k xp max seems a bit steep. Seeing how that is probably the max xp I could obtain for a floor anyways. So thats around 40gp/xp. Herblore often considered one of the most expensive skills can hover around 15-20gp/xp for extreme potions which I can turn around and use (compared to buying and selling tradable potions).

I know you can go cheaper but 2M seems modest considering I see 3.5M and 4M thrown out for the extremely secure non-scam groups that charge crazy premiums :(

I think I am doomed to actually train dungeoneering :P
