SotC: Build Tick 2

Post by Tamal » Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:20 pm

Hello clannies, welcome to the State of the Citadel, Build Tick 2!

I'll post weekly where we are in our goal of building the best citadel resources can buy, go over the status, the upgrade and hotspot options, and in general keep the clan informed about our progress.

Last Week
We collected almost 40.6k logs, great job everyone! We've upgraded to Citadel Tier 2 which has unlocked the ability to build a mine, upgrade the storehouse, and upgrade the woodcutting plot. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get the mining plot automatically, I apologize to all those who expected to mine this week. We've also got a basic topiary and basic weapon rack installed. The map has been changed to layout 4 at nighttime.

Upkeep required
4350 logs

Available building upgrades
Storehouse Tier 2: 1k logs, 400 stone
Woodcutter Tier 2: 800 logs
Mine Tier 1: 700 logs

Available customizations
Hotspots
  • Weapon Rack: 15000 logs
  • Topiary: 3000 logs
Blanket
  • Keep Walls
    • Helix: 750 logs
    • Crux: 7500 logs
    • Diamond: 15000 logs
    • Bulwark: 45000 logs
Resources
I've marked the storehouse, woodcutting plot, and mine to be upgraded/built. The storehouse requires stone so it won't be completed next week but we can pay off the logs portion this week. The second weapon rack is also set to be completed and a second topiary built. Because of the small amount of upgrades available the resource target for logs is only 17080. Feel free to collect beyond this value, we can use the extra to pay for a new keep wall design (45k logs and we can get Bulwark :o).

Next Week
We will have a mining plot next week as well as an upgraded woodcutting plot (provides "more roots"). Both are required for us to aim for Citadel T3 on build tick 3. I like layout 4 (very symmetrical), but I'm on the fence about the nighttime theme. What are your thoughts?

Check out available options in the game guide: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/cla ... mbers_only

TL;DR
Cut at least 17080 roots this week.

upkeep: 4350 logs
Storehouse Tier 2: 1k logs, 400 stone
Woodcutter Tier 2: 800 logs
Mine Tier 1: 700 logs
Weapon Rack: 15000 logs
Topiary: 3000 logs

4350 + 1000 + 800 + 700 + 15000 + 3000 = 24850?
why do we only need 17080?

Switching back and forth between day and night is good. Variety, the spice of life.

The nighttime theme is nice only because it is different from the eternal day of Runescape, but I don't really care if we keep it or not. There are no stars visible anyways so we can keep it night, keep it day, or alternate between the two, it doesn't matter to me.

I was also expecting the mining plot to be available with a tier 2 citadel. Seems like an oversight or just poor planning to not make the new skill plots available right away.

Thanks, Tamal, for the hard work and update!

Is that the plan?

Glad you have your finger on the pulse. What happens when we go over our target?

A little over 7k of the weapons rack is already paid off from last week.

Nothing really, the target is a number I enter that provides an easy way to mark what resources we need.

I'd like to invite anyone who is interested to open up the citadel management interface and have a look around. You won't have the permissions to change anything, but you can get an idea of what I look at when I write this up.

Tamal, outstanding work! I've looked through the information in the game guide, and it is quite expansive, and, truthfully, more than I'd be willing to take on. I appreciate your efforts!

I've not been to see the 'night' look yet, but I agree with comments that the eternal day of rs is a bit on the boring side. Bring on the evenings! If only we could be met by a butler at the entrance with an adult beverage...

I think the nighttime looks nice. I agree with Dr Brad though, switching it between the two periodically would probably be the nicest. I'll collect as much timber as I can.

Thanks for the post, Tamal.

Although I seem to be in the minority, I prefer the daytime myself. Seems kinda too gloomy.

good job Tamal. I was particularly pleased that when the requirement went up to 32k, it wasn't increased again! Looking forward to seeing the outcome of all our hard work!
I also quite like the nighttime look. I don't see why we can't alternate it every build tick?
Also, looking forward to being able to do some mining instead of roots! :)
