Change official Time? to EST?

Post by Deep_Pain » Wed May 21, 2008 5:53 pm

I'm thinking of changing the forums official time to EST (Eastern Standard Time).

The reason for this, is IF I want to host an event today, say the 21st of may, that covered american time, say 8pm est. That would make the event on the calendar in UTC (GMT)- 1am - the 22nd of may, although for those in america it is still the 21st of May.

It would seem to make more sense to have the official time as easten standard time, that way at least the events would appear on the right day, it would mean those in Europe would have to +5 or more to find out when the event is, but as most events are in the evenings on weekdays, if we hold an event in the U.S. it shows as on the wrong day at the moment.

let me know your thoughts. (if i make any sense).

I think that either way, having the "clan time" clock (upper left corner) on the clan site makes it easier to figure out what the local time is for an event. However, I'm all for a USA timezone. :)

nah est (eastern standard time) is -5

edt (eastern daylight time) is est + 1 so those in NY etc will have to add 1 hour to events still whilst it is summer.

The official clan clock can't observe daylight savings times as not all countries have daylight savings.
